Coming Soon: New Art Category
This idea has been in the works for a couple months now – and it’s finally ready for announcement. QueerMentalHealth.org is first and foremost, a support site – not only for our readers, but also our writers. Queer Mental Health has been a creative outlet for our writers for over 6 months now, and we’re proud to expand our site to include artistic endeavours. Art can be very healing, and a great way to express the strong emotions that often accompany mental illness and mental health issues.
Art encompasses many different media – from visual arts, to music, to writing. If you can digitize it, we’ll post it. In the coming week, you’ll see some of our initial submissions, which include a song (which you can listen to right on Queer Mental Health) with lyrics, paintings, poetry, and a satirical post about homophobia. I look forward to publishing these works, and to more Art submissions in the future! The first piece goes up on Monday.
As always, if you wish to contribute or join the Queer Mental Health writing team, e-mail us at contributions@queermentalhealth.org
